Nepean Hockey School
Program Sessions

Nepean Hockey School focuses on improving players’ individual skating skills. We spend approximately 30 minutes on age/skill specific skating skills. We offer a secondary focus at most practices, targeting different individual skills such as puck/ring handling, shooting, drills, games, etc.

Seasonal Programs

In addition to our regular, weekly ice sessions, Nepean Hockey School prides itself on running season-specific programming to best suited to the needs of players throughout the year. 

Our seasonal programs include:

August Primer

The August Primer will offer a combination of skill sessions and scrimmages scheduled to prepare players for the upcoming competitive tryouts and house league sort outs. We typically offer 8-10 hours a week spread over weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

September Cram

September Cram is designed to provide physical activity and development for players as they head back to school and into their fall hockey seasons. September Cram helps to prepare skaters for their player evaluations ahead of team formation. 

Winter Holiday Program

The Winter Holiday Program runs annually mid December through early January. The Holiday Series focuses on mid-year skill development, physical activity and holiday scrimmages. 

March Break/Spring Series

The March Break/Spring Series picks up as the regular season winds down. From mid March through April we offer a combination of scrimmages and skill based sessions to solidify skills learned during the hockey season. We also focus on preparing girls as they head into their competitive tryout season. 

Weekly Drop In Sessions

Weekly Drop-In Sessions are offered year-round as an opportunity for physical activity, skill development and on-ice fun.

Power Skating +
Edge Work

SECONDARY SKATING:
Stickhandling,
Shooting, Drills etc.

Power Edge + Stickhandling

These sessions have a primary focus on skating and edge control with a secondary focus on stick-handling skills. Our goal is to maximize the time your player has a puck on their stick. 

These sessions are open to players of all ages/skill levels. 

Power Edge + Shoot to Score

These sessions have a primary focus on skating and edge control with a secondary focus on shooting. Our goal is to have your player take as many skill-appropriate shots as possible. These sessions are open to players of all ages/skill levels. 

Power Edge + Hockey Drills

These sessions have a primary focus on skating and edge control with a secondary focus on hockey drills, occasionally involving other participants. 

These sessions are open to players of all ages/skill levels. 

Power Edge + Small Area Games

These sessions have a primary focus on skating and edge control with a secondary focus on hockey games designed to promote fun and hockey sense. 

These sessions are open to players of all ages/skill levels. 

Power Edge + Advanced Edge

These sessions have a primary focus on skating and edge control with a secondary focus on more difficult skating and edge control. These sessions are designed to challenge players and to push their comfort levels on their edges. 

These sessions are open to players of all ages/skill levels.

 

Power Edge + Flow and Passing

These sessions have a primary focus on skating and edge control with a secondary focus on flow, timing, and passing. These sessions are designed to develop player movement and timing on the ice and drills require players to pass/receive, read/react etc. 

These sessions are limited to players COMP AAA, AA, A, and  U11B and HOUSE U18,15,13B,11A. 

 

Scrimmages

Scrimmages run as full ice games. OPEN scrimmages are open to players of all ages. Players will be split into two shifts (older and younger) and players will play against players of similar age and skill. Scrimmages may also be age specific such as u7-11 and u12-15. 

 

Nepean Hockey School manages and operates hockey training sessions for players of all ages.
